Population Non-Hispanic Black % by Zip Code (ZCTA5) — San Francisco Metro

NOTE: Gray indicates insufficient data or a suppressed estimate.

The highest concentrations of non-Hispanic Black residents cluster in the East Bay corridor, particularly in and around Oakland and Richmond, where several zip codes reach 20–40% or higher, with pockets extending eastward toward Antioch and Concord at more moderate levels. In stark contrast, the South Bay—including San Jose, Fremont, and the Peninsula communities south of Daly City—registers consistently below 5%, as does the far northwestern portion of the metro area. This pattern reflects the well-documented historical geography of Black settlement in the East Bay, shaped by decades of migration, housing policy, and more recent suburban dispersal toward eastern Contra Costa County.
