Household Median Income by Zip Code (ZCTA5) — Chicago Metro

NOTE: Gray indicates insufficient data or a suppressed estimate.

The highest household median incomes, exceeding $125,000, concentrate in the North Shore suburbs along Lake Michigan north of Evanston and in a broad western suburban arc running through Naperville and into the exurban fringe. A stark income gradient is visible on Chicago's South Side, where zip codes in and around Englewood drop below $30,000, contrasting sharply with affluent areas just miles to the north near The Loop. Gary, Indiana, represents another deep pocket of low median income on the metro's southeastern edge, while mid-range incomes of $60,000–$80,000 characterize much of the inner-ring suburban belt from Schaumburg through Bolingbrook.
