Median Age by Zip Code (ZCTA5) — New York Metro

NOTE: Gray indicates insufficient data or a suppressed estimate.

Zip codes in northern New Jersey's suburban communities and parts of Staten Island tend to skew older, with median ages frequently reaching into the mid-40s to upper 50s, while The Bronx and sections of Brooklyn—particularly neighborhoods with large Orthodox Jewish or immigrant populations—register some of the youngest median ages in the metro, often below 30. Manhattan displays notable internal variation, with younger zip codes in Upper Manhattan (such as Washington Heights and Harlem) contrasting sharply with older-skewing areas in the Upper East Side and Midtown. Outer suburban areas in Westchester County and southwestern Connecticut generally cluster in the 40–50 range, consistent with established family-oriented communities with lower population turnover.
