Population Non-Hispanic Black % by Zip Code (ZCTA5) — New York Metro

NOTE: Gray indicates insufficient data or a suppressed estimate.

Concentrated clusters of high Non-Hispanic Black population shares (50–100%) are clearly visible in central Brooklyn (notably East Flatbush, Brownsville, and Bedford-Stuyvesant), northern Manhattan (Harlem), and portions of the South Bronx, as well as in Newark and several adjacent Essex County zip codes in New Jersey. Suburban areas in northern New Jersey, most of Queens, and the vast majority of Staten Island and the Connecticut portions near Stamford register well below 10%, creating sharp demographic boundaries often spanning just one or two zip codes. A secondary band of moderate Black population concentration (20–40%) appears along the southeastern Queens corridor and in select Westchester County zip codes near New Rochelle, suggesting transitional zones between the highest-concentration urban cores and predominantly non-Black suburban peripheries.
