The highest concentrations of bachelor's degree holders cluster in Manhattan's upper and midtown zip codes, affluent suburban areas of Westchester County near Stamford, and several western New Jersey communities, all exceeding 50% of residents over 25. A stark educational attainment divide runs through the metro, with the South Bronx, Paterson, Newark, and parts of central Brooklyn displaying rates below 15%, often immediately adjacent to zip codes with rates three to four times higher. Outer borough Queens and Staten Island generally fall in the 25–40% range, forming a middle tier between the extremes of Manhattan's wealth corridor and the region's lower-income urban cores.
