Housing Owner-Occupied % of Units, by Zip Code (ZCTA5) — Houston Metro

NOTE: Gray indicates insufficient data or a suppressed estimate.

Owner-occupancy rates in the Houston metro follow a clear core-periphery gradient, with the lowest concentrations (below 50%) clustered tightly in the central Houston urban core and extending through many inner-loop and near-suburban zip codes, while the outermost suburban and exurban zip codes—particularly to the northwest near Katy, north toward The Woodlands, and in parts of the northeast—consistently exceed 80%. Notable pockets of high renter concentration also appear in zip codes near Pasadena and along the southeastern corridor toward Galveston Bay. Suburban communities such as Sugar Land, Pearland, Friendswood, and League City occupy a middle-to-upper range (roughly 60–80%), forming a transitional band between the renter-heavy urban core and the strongly owner-occupied periphery.
