% of Households with Broadband Internet, by Zip Code (ZCTA5) — Maryland

NOTE: Gray indicates insufficient data or a suppressed estimate.

Broadband adoption rates are highest in the suburban zip codes surrounding Washington, D.C. and Baltimore, particularly in Montgomery, Howard, and Anne Arundel counties, where many areas exceed 90-95% household coverage. The Eastern Shore and western Maryland's Appalachian counties consistently lag behind, with several zip codes falling below 70-75%, while scattered pockets of very low connectivity (below 50%) appear in parts of Somerset County on the lower Eastern Shore and isolated areas of western Allegany and Garrett counties. A notable urban-suburban contrast is also visible within the Baltimore metro area, where some city zip codes show markedly lower broadband penetration compared to their surrounding suburban counterparts.
