Population Non-Hispanic Black % by Zip Code (ZCTA5) — Illinois

NOTE: Gray indicates insufficient data or a suppressed estimate.

The highest concentrations of Non-Hispanic Black population in Illinois are sharply clustered in Chicago's South and West Side zip codes, where several ZCTAs exceed 90%, creating a stark contrast with the predominantly low-percentage areas across the rest of the state. Secondary clusters of moderate Black population shares (15–30%) appear around the East St. Louis metro area along the southwestern border, as well as in mid-state urban centers such as Peoria, Springfield, Decatur, and Champaign-Urbana. Rural and exurban zip codes across central, western, and southern Illinois are overwhelmingly below 5%, underscoring the extreme geographic concentration of the state's Black population in a small number of urban cores.
