% of Population without Health Insurance, by Zip Code (ZCTA5) — New York Metro

NOTE: Gray indicates insufficient data or a suppressed estimate.

Uninsured rates peak most visibly in and around Newark, where at least one zip code exceeds 30%, and in scattered pockets across the Bronx and northern Queens, reflecting concentrations of immigrant and lower-income communities. In contrast, much of Staten Island's southern tier, large swaths of Brooklyn's southern coastline, and affluent Westchester suburbs near New Rochelle register among the lowest uninsured rates, generally below 5%. The New Jersey side of the metro displays notably more heterogeneity than the New York side, with high-uninsured zip codes in Passaic and Paterson sitting immediately adjacent to well-insured suburban areas.
