Household Median Income by Zip Code (ZCTA5) — South Dakota

NOTE: Gray indicates insufficient data or a suppressed estimate.

Median household incomes across South Dakota exhibit a clear east-west divide, with zip codes in the eastern third of the state—particularly around the Sioux Falls metropolitan area—consistently displaying higher incomes in the $80,000–$125,000+ range, while much of the western half, especially areas overlapping Native American reservations in the south-central and southwestern regions, falls below $30,000. A notable cluster of high-income zip codes also appears in the Rapid City vicinity and the northeastern corner near the Watertown–Brookings corridor. The starkest contrasts occur in the south-central reservation lands, where deep purple zip codes with incomes near $20,000 sit adjacent to moderate-income agricultural communities in the $50,000–$70,000 range.
