Housing Median Monthly Rent ($), by Zip Code (ZCTA5) — New York

NOTE: Gray indicates insufficient data or a suppressed estimate.

Median monthly rents in New York State exhibit a stark downstate-upstate divide, with zip codes across New York City, Long Island, and the lower Hudson Valley consistently reaching $2,000–$2,500+, while much of western and northern New York falls below $1,000. Within the New York City metro area, pockets of yellow on Long Island and in Manhattan-adjacent areas represent the highest rent concentrations in the state, contrasting sharply with lower-rent clusters in parts of the Bronx and outer Brooklyn. Upstate, modest rent elevations appear around regional centers such as Albany, Syracuse, and the Finger Lakes corridor, but these remain well below the $1,250 threshold that characterizes much of the southeastern portion of the state.
