Population Non-Hispanic Black % by Zip Code (ZCTA5) — Charlotte Metro

NOTE: Gray indicates insufficient data or a suppressed estimate.

The highest concentrations of Non-Hispanic Black residents, exceeding 40-50%, cluster in zip codes immediately north and northwest of downtown Charlotte, forming a distinct crescent pattern that aligns with historically Black neighborhoods. Surrounding suburban and exurban areas—particularly to the south, southeast, and in the outer reaches near Kannapolis and Concord—generally fall below 20%, with several rural zip codes in the southern portion of the metro dropping to under 10%. Gastonia and its adjacent zip codes show moderate representation in the 15-25% range, creating a secondary node of diversity west of the urban core.
