Housing Owner-Occupied % of Units, by Zip Code (ZCTA5) — New Mexico

NOTE: Gray indicates insufficient data or a suppressed estimate.

Owner-occupancy rates across New Mexico exhibit a clear urban-rural divide, with zip codes in and around Albuquerque, Santa Fe, and Las Cruces displaying notably lower owner-occupied percentages (40–60%), while many rural and tribal areas in the western and northern parts of the state reach 80–90%. A distinct cluster of high owner-occupancy (yellow) stretches across much of the central-western and northwestern regions, contrasting sharply with pockets of very low rates (dark purple/teal) concentrated in urban cores and select southeastern communities near Roswell and Carlsbad. The gray (no-data) zones, prevalent in sparsely populated central and eastern areas, suggest limited housing stock or suppressed Census reporting in those zip codes.
